It’s a popular myth that hot sauce and spicy food causes ulcers, but the truth is, they do not. Instead, we know that a bacteria called h-pylori is the cause of most ulcers. Having said that, its still a good idea to avoid spicy food if you have an ulcer, because while spicy food doesn’t cause an ulcer, it can aggravate an ulcer and increase ulcer pain. The same is true for stress. Both can delay the healing of an ulcer, but the spicy food does not cause an ulcer.
