There is more proof that migraines run in families. For the first time, researchers have identified a specific variation of a gene associated with an increased risk of the most common types of migraines. While migraines have always been thought to have a genetic component, this is the first time a specific gene has been identified. This study involved nearly 6 thousand people who suffer from migraines. Currently there’s no cure, only medications that help reduce the frequency and severity of the attacks.
