Flu vaccine prevents heart attacks

By: Dr. Steve Salvatore, Co-Owner of The Academy

Getting your flu shot now may help prevent a future heart attack.  According to British researchers from the University of Lincoln, the risk of heart attack was reduced by 19% for those people who had the flu vaccination in the last year.  The study took into account the medical records of more than 78,000 people in England.  16,000 of them were heart attack patients.  Some U.S. experts have criticized the statistical result of this study, but agree there have been similar conclusions in the past.  The American Heart Association has recommended flu shots for everyone at risk for heart attack.
