It’s not widely known, but a section of the overhauled health care plan is dedicated to breast cancer awareness among young women and doctors. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention will introduce an educational campaign encouraging healthy habits and early detection for younger women. The new health care law also mandates that the National Institute of Health develop new screening tests for women under 40. Typical screening is not suggested until age 40, but breast cancer experts suggest that some women with no risk factors still carry the genetic mutation linked to the disease.
