The Food and Drug Administration is cracking down on a controversial “cleansing” procedure known as Chelation.  The treatment is often touted on the internet as a cure-all for everything from Alzheimer’s disease to Parkinson’s…even autism.  Chelation is used by doctors in special situations, but some companies are selling unapproved drugs and devices which could be deadly.  One child with autism has already died.  The government agency has become increasingly worried about the growing promotion and easy availability of the products which can cause serious complications such as severe dehydration and kidney failure.   The FDA sent warning letters to several companies warning them of these unapproved and illegal products.
