DEA taking action to stop synthetic marijuana products

The Drug Enforcement Administration has taken emergency action to stop “K-2” and other synthetic marijuana products.  These sustances mimic the effects of marijuana and are made from plant materials coated with chemicals that act like THC, the active ingredient in marijuana.  Across the country the synthetic marijuana has caused a surge of complaints including: rapid heart rates, extremely high blood pressure, and hallucinations.

The products have been online and in convenience stores.  The ban takes effect next month.
